Lara graduated from Stanford University with a degree in international public health. She went on to become a travel writer, which landed her in Africa. In Kenya, she co-founded a non-profit organization called Hope Runs, which provides educational and extra-curricular programming in orphanages.
Lara left Oxford to return to medical school. She is now completing her Emergency Medicine Residency at Mass. General Hospital, and is continuing to research women’s healthcare access in rural sub-Saharan Africa.
