Sumit started his career at one of the world’s leading technology firms. Simultaneously, he pursued his keen interest of teaching Math to MBA aspirants. Working within the ecosystem of industry, academia and the youth, Sumit observed how employers complained about Indian graduates lacking specific employable skills and how the academic curriculum did not focus enough on imparting those skills.

In an attempt to bridge this acute need-gap between industry and academia, Sumit bid farewell to his corporate career and started APART Education. The company provides work readiness training programmes to engineering colleges in two states of India. In three years, the company has grown from a modest two employees to currently 30 employees, training over 15,000 students across 50 colleges. As a result, Sumit has not only helped colleges improve the placement percentage of their graduates but also enriched the employers with a better, more relevant workforce.

When Sumit is not working, he is probably out climbing mountains, paragliding, or simply preparing for his next long-distance run. Clearly, for this adventure aficionado, the adrenaline rush is as much in scaling uncharted lands outdoors as in evolving an educational ecosystem that thrives on employability of the graduates of tomorrow.
